Teacher/Performer

Brought up in Inverurie in the North East of Scotland, Daniel studied at the National Centre of Excellence in Plockton before attending the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where he gained an honours degree in Scottish Music.

After graduating Daniel won the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2010.

He is currently an Upper Strings tutor for Stirling Council as well as leading two YMI Projects for Traditional Music in Stirlingshire. Tolbooth Trad which is an extra curricular group project for young people between 8 & 18 as well as Cowie Trad based in two primary schools in Cowie, Stirlinshire. This project provides whole class whistle lessons as well as fiddle and guitar lessons to all pupils in the school from P4-P7.

He regularly provides one off workshops for the Feisan movement as well as teaching a module in Ceilidh Skills for the Scottish Music Course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. 

He is also a regular tutor at The Gaitherin in Aberdeenshire which works with young people through the medium of music (traditional and contemporary), dance and drama to try and help them build successful learning skills, increase their self worth and self confidence and help them become better at forging friendships and working together towards a common goal.

He regularly performs with several ceilidh bands, including It's No Reel, Kilter and his own band.
